Spring is here! Which means it’s time to get your garden ready. Edible landscaping is great for homes. There’s plenty to choose from: vegetables, herbs, fruit trees, and/or shrubs.
First vegetables:
What is great with vegetables is that you can grow them in window boxes, large pots, or build gorgeous flower beds in your yard. Vegetables grow in many different sizes and colors. When planting your garden think of the colors that will start to show. This way you can make a beautifully aesthetic garden. Hot peppers, swiss chard, and more come in a variety of colors that can be mixed with annual flowers in a flower bed. If your backyard has some shade to it-don’t worry about your garden-there are vegetables that are fairly shade tolerant, such as, beets, cabbage, cauliflower, garlic, spinach, and the list could go on. Do your research for the specific kinds of vegetables you would like to grow to see what will thrive in your yard.
Herbs:
Your garden doesn’t have to be ugly to be edible. Herbs come in a variety of colors and with a little forethought your garden can be aesthetically attractive and delicious! Herbs can be mixed in flowers just as many vegetables can be. If it’s your first year with an edible garden here are a few easy herbs you can grow:
